The Adult Protective Services Program is locally coordinated through 45 provider agencies, which are designated by the Regional Area Agency on Aging and the Illinois Department on Aging. Case workers from the Adult Protective Services Provider Agencies conduct investigations and work with adults age 60 or older and adults age 18-59 with.

The Adult Protective Services Program, under authority of the Illinois Adult Protective Services Act, responds to reports of alleged abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation of persons 60 years of age and older and of persons age 18-59 with disabilities living in the community.
